Points & Prime is a participant in the Amazon Associates program. When a reader follows one of our links and signs up for a program — a credit card, an Amazon Prime membership — Amazon pays us a flat fee for that signup. It costs you nothing, and the terms you get are the same as if you had gone to Amazon directly.

This is worth spelling out because it differs from how most affiliate sites are paid, and the difference shapes what we write.

A commission pays a percentage of what you buy. A site paid that way earns more when you spend more, which is why product-review sites are full of expensive recommendations.

A bounty pays a fixed fee for a completed signup, once. We earn the same amount whether you then spend ten dollars a year at Amazon or ten thousand. We earn nothing at all on anything you buy afterwards.

The practical consequence: we have no incentive to push you toward expensive products, because there are no products here. What we do have is an incentive to encourage signups, and the honest answer to that is the next section.

Not a promise — four things you can verify on the site right now.

• Every decision page carries a “Skip this if…” section at the same weight as the upside, above the final link rather than beneath it.
• We recommend against one of the two cards we cover. Our Amazon Store Card page concludes that most readers should not get it, on a page that only pays us if someone does.
• We publish the arithmetic that produces a no. The break-even thresholds on the card and membership pages exist precisely so a reader can discover the answer is no for them.
• Trust pages carry no links that pay us. Not this one, not the methodology page, not about.

The programs we link to carry their own conditions, set by Amazon and by the card issuers, not by us. Three that matter:

• Card sign-up offers are for new cardmembers only, and approval is the issuer’s decision. We cannot influence it, predict it or expedite it.
• The Prime free trial is for eligible customers — Amazon’s own wording — which is not the same as all customers. Whether it is offered to you is Amazon’s decision.
• Terms change without notice. Every figure on this site carries the date we last checked it, and the terms shown to you by Amazon or the issuer at the moment you sign up are the ones that govern your account.

We will never imply that you are guaranteed a bonus, a trial or an approval. If a page here reads that way, that is an error and we would like to know about it.

Money links on this site route through a redirect on our own domain before sending you to Amazon, so we can count clicks without any third-party tracker following you around. They are marked sponsored for search engines, they open in a new tab, and they are labeled with #ad and a line describing the program terms directly beneath every one.

We record that a click happened and which link it was. We do not know who you are, we receive nothing from Amazon about what you do afterwards, and we do not sell data to anyone. The privacy policy has the detail.
