Editorial
Editorial policy
No issuer sees this content before you do. Here is the correction policy and the update cadence in full.
Independence
No issuer sees a page before you do
Chase, Synchrony and Amazon have no involvement in what is published here. None of them reviews, approves, previews or is shown a draft of any page. There is no advertising relationship beyond the Amazon Associates program described on our disclosure page, and no issuer has ever contacted us about content.
No page on this site has been paid for. There are no sponsored placements, no paid positions in a comparison, and no products accepted free of charge. If any of that ever changes, it will be labeled on the page it affects, in plain words, before anything else on that page.
The rule
Commission never decides a recommendation
We are paid a flat fee when a reader signs up for a program through one of our links. That creates an obvious incentive to tell everyone to sign up for everything, and the only meaningful answer to it is what we actually publish. Three standing rules:
- Every decision page carries a “Skip this if…” section at the same visual weight as the upside, positioned above the final link rather than buried under it.
- Where the honest answer is “do not”, we write it. Our Amazon Store Card page recommends against the card for most readers, and it is a page that earns us money only when someone signs up.
- Trust pages carry no links at all. This page, the methodology page and the about page have nothing to click that pays us. Selling on them would destroy the only thing they are for.
Accuracy
Sourcing and verification
Every rate, fee, APR, price and eligibility rule is read from a published source, recorded with a link and a date, and rendered on the page with both attached. Where only a corroborating source was reachable, the figure is labeled “secondary source” on the line where it appears rather than in a general disclaimer.
Figures are re-checked quarterly and immediately on any announced change. A build script fails the site’s build if any figure has gone more than 120 days without a check, so a stale number cannot ship unnoticed. The method in full, including what we do when a source will not load.
Corrections
How we handle being wrong
Errors get corrected, not quietly edited. When a factual mistake is identified:
- We verify the claim against its source.
- We correct the figure and update the page’s modified and verification dates.
- Where the error was material — a wrong rate, fee, APR or eligibility rule — we add a dated correction note at the foot of the page saying what changed.
Silently editing a wrong number on a financial page is the fastest way to lose a reader’s trust, and it is the specific failure this policy exists to prevent. Report anything you think is wrong to info@pointsandprime.com.
Claims
What we will not write
A short list, held to on every page:
- No claimed testing. We have not carried these cards. Reading published terms is reporting; describing the experience of using a product we have not used is fabrication.
- No invented credentials. No CFP, no analyst, no advisory board, no “financially reviewed by”, no implied staff. Stephen V. writes this site as an enthusiast and it says so on every page.
- No unsourced superlatives. Not “best card”, not “top-rated”, not “#1”. Those are ratings claims and we have no basis for one.
- No manufactured urgency. No countdowns and no “act now” unless an offer carries a genuine, stated, sourced deadline.
- No fabricated reviews or testimonials. There are none on this site because there are none to publish.
- No invented approval odds. Issuers do not publish score cutoffs, and we will not fill that silence with a confident number.
Cadence
How often pages change
Content here is evergreen rather than dated news, which is why there is no blog. Freshness is signaled by the “Last verified” stamp at the foot of every page and by the modified date in each page’s structured data — both of which move when we actually re-check something, not when the site is rebuilt.
New pages are published deliberately slowly. In this category the constraint is not writing pages, it is keeping every published figure accurate indefinitely. A smaller site that is entirely correct is worth more than a larger one that is partly stale.
