Where to find your Amazon points balance
Two places show the balance, they can disagree for a day or two, and a third number on the same screen is something else entirely.
The short answer
Where is your Amazon points balance?
With Chase, and at Amazon once the card is linked. Prime Visa and Amazon Visa points are held by Chase and shown in your Chase account. Amazon can display and spend them at checkout only after you link the card. Until you do, Amazon shows nothing — which is not the same as having nothing.

The single most useful thing on that table is that the first two rows and the third row are different systems. Somebody hunting for a store card balance in a Chase login will never find it, and somebody hunting for Prime Visa points in their Amazon account before linking the card will not either. Working out which card you actually hold is the real first step.
The steps
Finding it, in order
1.Work out which card you hold
Prime Visa and Amazon Visa rewards are held by Chase. Amazon Store Card rewards are held on the Amazon side. The two live in different systems and looking in the wrong one is the usual problem.
2.For a Chase card, check your Chase account first
The rewards balance in your Chase account or the Chase app is the authoritative figure. Everything else is a display of it.
3.Link the card to your Amazon account
Linking is what lets Amazon show and spend the balance at checkout. It is done once, in your Amazon payment settings, and until it is done Amazon shows nothing.
4.Check the balance at Amazon checkout
With the card linked and selected as the payment method, the available rewards balance appears as an option against the order.
5.Do not confuse it with your gift card balance
Amazon accounts also hold a gift card balance in dollars. It is a separate pot with separate rules and it is not your rewards.
The usual problem
Nothing showing at Amazon checkout
This is the most-reported version of the question and it almost never means the points are gone.
Chase holds the balance. Amazon displays it at checkout as a courtesy of the link between the two accounts. No link, no display — and the checkout page has no way to tell you “there are points, you just have not connected them”, so it shows nothing at all.
The test takes ten seconds: log in to Chase. If the balance is there, nothing is wrong and you need the link. If it is not there either, then you have a genuine question, and six ordinary explanations cover almost all of those.
It is worth remembering that the Amazon checkout route is only one of the options. Chase’s published list is eligible purchases at Amazon.com checkout, cash back, travel and gift cards (Chase — Prime Visa, verified 2026-08-11). Three of those four are available inside the Chase account regardless of any linking — so an unlinked card is a display inconvenience, not a locked balance.

Two numbers that disagree, and one that is not yours
When Chase and Amazon show different figures
A short lag is normal. Points post when a transaction settles, and the two systems do not update in the same instant. A day or two of disagreement after a busy shopping week is ordinary.
If they still disagree after a full billing cycle, treat the Chase figure as the real one. Chase holds the account and the rewards program; Amazon is showing a copy.
The number that is not your rewards at all
Your Amazon account also holds a gift card balance, in dollars, and it sits close enough to the rewards figure to be mistaken for it constantly. A welcome offer such as a $150 Amazon Gift Card loaded into your Amazon Gift Card balance on approval (Chase — Prime Visa, verified 2026-08-11) lands there, not in your points.
The two behave differently in ways that matter: gift card balance can only be spent at Amazon, while points are worth 100 points = $1 (each $1 in % back rewards earned is equal to 100 points) (Chase — Prime Visa, verified 2026-08-11) and can be taken as cash back. No hurry
You are not on a clock
One reason not to panic while sorting this out: Chase states points don't expire as long as your card account remains open (Chase — Prime Visa, verified 2026-08-11). There is no expiry date creeping up on an unfound balance and no urgency to redeem badly.
The one event that does end it is closing the account, which is why redeeming first is step one of any closure.
And once you have found it, deciding what to do with it is unusually easy on this program. Every route pays the same fixed cent, so the redemption decision is about convenience rather than value — with one option worth thinking twice about.

- Where do you find your Amazon rewards balance?
- In your Chase account for the Prime Visa and Amazon Visa, and at Amazon checkout once the card is linked. For the Amazon Store Card the balance lives on the Amazon side instead.
- Why does Amazon say my rewards balance is unavailable?
- Almost always because the card is not linked to your Amazon account, so Amazon has nothing to display. The points still exist and are visible in your Chase account.
- Why do the two balances not match?
- They can lag each other by a day or two while recent transactions settle. If they still disagree after a full billing cycle, treat the Chase figure as authoritative.
- Is your gift card balance the same as your rewards balance?
- No. Gift card balance is dollars spendable at Amazon and includes things like a welcome offer. Rewards are points held by the card issuer with their own redemption options.
- Can you check your Amazon points without logging in to Chase?
- Once the card is linked, the balance shows at Amazon checkout. But cash back and the other redemption routes live in the Chase account, so that is where the full picture is.
